Date of creation:

29.12.2003.

Scale:

1:20,000,000.

Accuracy of map:

The minimum territorial unit is the regional (oblast) arable territory, based on the Arable Land Map (Koroljeva et al., 2003), generalized to a scale of 1:20,000,000.

Projection:

.Alber.s Equal Area Conic for Russia..

Basic contents:

Map is a vector file consisting of polygons. Polygons represent area of possible distribution of the species.

Accuracy of classifier:

Polygons are based on literature sources, field surveys, herbarium samples, political boundaries and ecological descriptions. Map was created using generalized information about species distribution from the following published sources: State List of Selection Achievements (1996, 2003), Tulupnikov (1960), Vehov (1978), and Korenev (1990). The area encompasses the southern territories of the European region of FSU, which have a climate suitable for crop cultivation.

Method of map production:

Historical agricultural statistics were reviewed at the regional level. The Former Soviet Union had 16 regions. The boundaries from the map of arable lands (1:4000000) were used to further refine crop distribution.
