Scale:

1:20,000,000.

Accuracy of map:

Map is on the Oblast level. Map was created using the arable land map, which was generalized to the scale of 1:20,000,000.

The projection:

"Alber's Equal Area Conic for Russia", 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0.

Basic contents:

Vector maps: Areas of continuous cultivation are represented by polygons. Locations of species occurrence situated far from the general distribution area are represented by points.

Accuracy of qualifier:

Maps were created using information about regional species distribution found in published sources.

Mapping procedure:

The distribution area map was created using published data. Within the former USSR, the distribution area covers western, central and southern regions of the European region, as well as Transcaucasia (Rychin, 1959; Lypa, 1961; Petrova, 1986; Petrova, Borodina, 1992; Plotnikova, 1994). Species is cultivated sporadically in northern regions, in Siberia, in the Far East (Denisov, Hrapko, 2001; http://garden.karelia.ru/ ), and in Uzbekistan (Murzova et al., 1977). These areas are indicated by points.
