The distribution area map was created using published data (Tulupnikov, 1960; State, 1994, 2004). The distribution area within the former USSR covers the Lower Volga regions, Krasnodar and Stavropol. krais, Transcaucasia (Azerbaijan), regions of the Ukraine, and Kirgizia (Samsonov, 1967; Prutskov, 1970; Bujukli, 1983). The culture is not widespread; it is cultivated mostly in Azerbaijan (Dorofeev & Korovina, 1979; http://www.cultinfo.ru/fulltext/1/001/008/094/451.htm ).
