In the disease area the zone of high severity (more than 25% of plants are affected by the Downy Mildew) was outlined. The zone was marked according to the method by Chumakov & Zakharova (1990).Method of map production:
Scientists were given maps with boundaries of Oblasts and arable lands. After reviewing historic literature, species distribution was hand drawn on maps. If data were on the Oblast-level, distribution is on the Oblast level. In some cases, Oblast.s are further refined by boundaries of the Arable Land Map (Koroljeva et al., 2003). Hand drawn maps were scanned, georeferenced and vectorized. The disease is widely distributed in all regions of the country where the culture of cucumber is growing in open and protected ground. The greatest harm it causes is in the Far East in Primorskii and Khabarovsk Territories, Amur and Sakhalin Region according to the following sources: Osnitskaya (1970, 1971), Zolotareva (2001), Kuznetsov (1984); in Byelorussia according to Zherdetskaya (2000), Nalobova (1986); in the Krasnodar Territory according to Pavlova (1991); in the Ukraine according to Efimov (1978), Grin.ko (1992, 2003), Gorokhovskii (2002); in Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan according to Ragimov (1961), Papoyan (1975); in the Almaty Region of Kazakhstan according to Levitin (1957), where infection of plants reaches 26-100%.Reference citations:
