Scale.

1: 20,000,000.

Accuracy of map.

Created based on information taken from map of scale 1: 33,000,000.

Projection.

Basic contents.

Vector map composed of 4 thematic layers shown by polygons.

Accuracy of classifier.

The area of distribution is divided into zones of high, moderate, and low severity. In the zone of high severity the disease is widespread, reaching an extent of 50-70% (weight of seeds may be reduced by 50%); in the zone of moderate severity the Peronosporosis development does not exceed 50%; in the rare zone of low severity, disease development is lower than 25% (the disease has practically no economic significance).

Method of map production.

The area of distribution and zones of fungus severity are drawn by results of the analysis of the published data (Ganya, 1979; Zaostrovnykh et al., 2003; Milyakova et al., 1984; Nguen Suan Khong, 1984; Podkina et al., 1982; Prostakova et al., 1983). According to the data, the disease area is drawn along areas of industrial cultivation of soybean (vector layer by I.E. Koroleva et al. (2003). The disease is most harmful in the Far East, Northern Caucasus, Moldova, and in Forest-steppe of Ukraine. The zone of moderate severity includes Krasnodar Territory, Rostov Region, and a narrow strip of frontier areas of Ukraine. The zone of low severity embraces arable lands of Kursk and southern Orel Regions, and Volgograd, Saratov, and Samara Regions. Vectoring of the scanned raster map is carried out by standard GIS-technologies.
