Created using maps of natural scale 1:40 000 000.

Projection:

"Alber's Equal Area Conic for the USSR", 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0.

Basic contents:

Vector map. Area of disease distribution and zones of harmfulness are shown by polygons.

Accuracy of classifier:

Area of distribution and zones of disease severity were determined from an analysis of open published materials. Zone of disease severity was subdivided into zones of high disease severity (disease occurs > 3-4 times per decade) and low disease severity (< 3 times per decade). The life cycle of the pathogen and on its host-plants were determined according to: (Ishkova, et al., 2000), (Mathre, 1997). Zones of the disease harmfulness were determined according to: (Ishkova, et al., 2000), (Sanin, 1995), (Kashemirova, 1995), (Hasanov, 1992),(Novozhilov & Zakharenko, 2000).

Method of map production:

Published literature was reviewed, including Atlases, monographs and papers. Occurrence data were obtained from herbarium specimens, floras, monographs and papers. Data were then compiled through scanning and geo-referencing to develop a composite vector map. The biologist together with the GIS specialist, drew a composite disease distribution area based on compiled data.
