Basic contents:

Vector map consists of polygons illustrating the area of general disease distribution on rye and area of high disease severity.

Accuracy of classifier:

The distribution of Fusarium head blight in all regions is represented according to scientific publications. Area of high disease severity is based on annual appearance of the disease and resulting yield reduction.

Procedure of map drawing:

Scientists were given maps with boundaries of Oblasts and arable lands. After reviewing historic literature, species distribution was hand drawn on maps. If data were on the Oblast-level, distribution is on the Oblast level. In some cases, Oblast's are further refined by boundaries of the Arable Land Map. Hand drawn maps were scanned, georeferenced and vectorized.
The area of Fusarium head blight is widely distributed where winter rye is grown (Buga, 1999), (Levitin et al., 1994), (Piryazeva, 2001), (Shipilova, 1994). The distribution of the disease was specified by boundaries of the largest wheat production area. Regions of high disease severity reflect areas where the disease occurs every year and degrades yield quality, usually areas with relatively cool and humid conditions during the vegetation period (North-Western, Volgo-Vyatka regions, Byelorussia, Ukraine, Baltic countries).
