Basic contents:

Vector map. Area of species distribution and zones of disease severity are shown by polygons.

Accuracy of classifier:

The disease is spread everywhere throughout the zones of potato cultivation. There were three zones of disease severity determined. The zone of low disease severity is characterized by up to 20% leaf damage. The zone of moderate severity, with 20 to 50% leaf damage. The zone of high severity, with more than 50% leaf damage.

Method of map production:

Scientists were given maps with boundaries of Oblasts and arable lands. After reviewing historic literature, species distribution was hand drawn on maps. Each year Early Blight is found in Volga-Vyatski, Central and Black soil areas and Far East regions (Volovik & Litun, 1975). Zones of disease severity were determined according to the following sources: Volovik & Gulyukina (1969), Volovik & Litun (1975), Yagneshko (2000). Early blight is characterized by very high damage in the North East region of the European part of Russia, in Baikal zone and in the Far East. The moderate severity zone of the disease is observed in Central Russia (Volovik & Gulyukina, 1969). If data were on the Oblast-level, distribution is on the Oblast level. In some cases, Oblast.s are further refined by boundaries of the Arable Land Map (Koroljeva et al., 2003). Hand drawn maps were scanned, georeferenced and vectorized.
