Basic contents:

Vector map consisting of polygon characterizing disease distribution on wheat.

Accuracy of the classifier:

Disease distribution is based on compilation of open published materials (Semenov, 1977); (Zhukova, 1982); (Bel'kov, 1983); (Ilyukhina & Fedorova, 1989); (Peresypkin, 1989); (Ishkova et al., 2001); (Potlaichuk & Chernysheva, 1991). All regions where wheat is grown on territory of former USSR are included.

Method of map production:

Published literature was reviewed, including Atlases, monographs and papers. Occurrence data were obtained from herbarium specimens, floras, monographs and papers. Zone of moulds distribution on wheat seeds is based on the distribution of wheat cultivation in the Former Soviet Union, since grain moulds are due to improper storage conditions in granaries and are not linked to growing environment. Data were then compiled through scanning and geo-referencing to develop a composite vector map. The biologist, together with the GIS specialist, drew a composite mold distribution area based on compiled data.
