Basic contents:

Vector map. Area of species distribution and zones of disease severity are shown by polygons.

Accuracy of classifier:

All regions are mapped where disease has been reported in scientific publications. Within the limits of the former USSR the disease distribution is presented by a single zone. Zone of disease harmfulness was determined according to Zhaliev (1987) and is described as follows: Yield losses result from reduction of kernel size and number. The harmfulness of disease depends on the time of plant inoculation and on the rate of lesion development. The mass of 1000 seeds may decrease by 16.5% and the number of seeds by 26.5% and, as a result, the yield losses amount to 20%.

Method of map production:

Scientists were given maps with boundaries of Oblasts and arable lands. After reviewing historic literature, species distribution was hand drawn on maps. The accurate definition of distribution of the disease was specified following limits of the largest winter and spring wheat production area. If data were on the Oblast-level, distribution is on the Oblast level. In some cases, Oblast.s are further refined by boundaries of the Arable Land Map (Koroljeva et al., 2003). Hand drawn maps were scanned, georeferenced and vectorized.
