Vector map consists of two thematic layers describing area of distribution and zone of high disease severity on wheat.

Accuracy of the classifier:

The area represents the disease distribution, where the Black Chaff of wheat has been revealed according to scientific publications. The zone of high disease severity is determined in those regions where epiphytotics arise sporadically, and more than 20% plants are diseased.

Method of map production:

The map is compiled by results of the analysis of the open published materials. Specification of borders of the disease area is executed on a map of distribution of the wheat, proposed by I.E. Koroleva et al. (2003). Wide distribution of the disease is shown on the map in all territories of the former USSR; i.e., in the Central Black-Earth zone of Rssia (Voronezh, Kursk, Belgorod, Tambov, Lipetsk, Orlov Regions), in the Rostov, Sverdlovsk, Saratov Regions, in the Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories, in Adygea (Vzorov, 1938a, 1938b; Trunov, 1939; Oganesyan, 1952; Izrail'skii, 1960; Gulyarenko, 1964; Gorlenko, 1966, 1977, 1979; Khavritsina, 1967, 1976; Ilyukhina, 1976a, 1976b, 1976d, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1987, 1990; Nikolaeva, 1976; Voronkevich, 1977; Sidorenko et al., 1977; Schneider & Ilyukhina, 1975, 1976, 1980; 1983; Schneider et al., 1980; Gvozdyak et al., 1981; Bilai et al., 1988; Pavlushin, 2005; Dyachenko, 2006), in Ukraine (Odessa, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Cherkassy, Kharkiv, and other Regions), in Moldova (Vzorov, 1938a, 1938b; Trunov, 1939; Izrail'skii, 1960; Sidorenko et al., 1977; Gorlenko, 1979; Bilai et al., 1988), Kazakhstan and Belarus (Izrail'skii, 1960; Gorlenko, 1979). The zone of high disease severity is distinguished, including the Central Black-Earth zone of Russia (Voronezh, Kursk, Belgorod, Tambov, Lipetsk, Orlov Regions), the Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories, the Rostov, Saratov Regions, Kabardino-Balkaria and North Ossetia, Kazakhstan (Izrail'skii, 1960; Schneider & Ilyukhina, 1975, 1976, 1980; 1983; Ilyukhina, 1976a, 1976b, 1979, 1980, 1990; Voronkevich, 1977; Gorlenko, 1979; D'yachenko, 2006). Specification of the area and disease severity zone borders configuration is executed according with the map of wheat distribution, proposed by Koroleva et al.
