Basic contents:

Vector map. Area of species distribution and zones of disease severity are shown by polygons.

Accuracy of classifier:

Two zones of disease severity were allocated within the limits of the distribution zone. The zone of high severity is characterized by the infection of 50-70% of leaves; yield losses reach 40%. In the low disease severity zone the infection of leaves is 10-20%, and yield losses reach about 10% (in the separate focuses).

Method of map production:

Scientists were given maps with boundaries of Oblasts and arable lands. After reviewing historic literature, species distribution was hand drawn on maps. If data were on the Oblast-level, distribution is on the Oblast level. In some cases, Oblast.s are further refined by boundaries of the Arable Land Map (Koroljeva et al., 2003). Hand drawn maps were scanned, georeferenced and vectorized. The following sources were used to determine the areas of distribution and severity: Kalashnikov & Shapiro (1962), Erokhina (1990), Sidorov (1990), Gopalo et al. (1995), Makarova & Annenkov (2001). High disease severity is observed in the Caucasus and west Georgia, where the yield losses reach 40-70%. In the Primorskii Territory 70% of leaves infected by H. turcicum during epidemic years can cause yield losses up to 40%. The rest of the regions, where the disease distribution was allocated, are characterized by having low disease development and low severity accordingly.
