Authors:

Specialist-biologist A.E.Tsyplenkov,
GIS-specialist M.I. Saulich.

Date of creation:

26.10.2007.

Scale:

1:20 000 000.

Accuracy of map:

It is created on information taken from the map of scale 1:33 000 000.

Projection:

"Alber's Equal Area Conic for the USSR", 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0.

Basic contents:

Vector map is composed of 3 thematic layers. Zones of distribution and severity are shown by polygons.

Accuracy of the classifier:

In the area of MDMV distribution, two zones of severity of this virus are established according to the method of Panarin (1985). In the zone of moderate severity, the disease development does not exceed 20%, in the zone of low severity it amounts to 5% at most.

Method of map production:

The area and severity zones have been marked on a blank map by results of the analysis of the published materials. Moderate disease severity is characteristic in the republics of Central Asia, in Georgia, Moldova, Kazakhstan, and in the North Caucasus. The zone of low severity is recorded in Central and Central-Chernozem regions of Russia (Artem.eva, 1970; Dubonosov et al., 1975; Gorbunova et al., 1980; Vlasov & Larina, 1982). Correction of severity zones has been performed by the vector map of the maize largest distribution within the territory of the Former Soviet Union (Koroleva et al., 2003).
