Basic contents:

Vector map. Area of distribution and pest damage zones are shown by polygon.

Accuracy of the classifier:

The area of distribution of A. anceps is located within the area of industrial cultivation of grain crops (winter and spring wheat, grain maize), and also of bromegrass seed crops. Within the limits of general distribution, the zone of low damage is outlined, in which the pest numbers sometimes reach economic threshold, 70-100 caterpillars per 1 square meter (Pavlov, 1983).

Method of map production:

The map was compiled through an analysis of open published cartographical materials and literature. The northern border of the area is drawn along the border of two natural zones, tundra and taiga, according to data on the distribution of the species in the northern Russia (Belyaev, 1974); (Pospelov 1989); (Sukhareva, 1999); and a map of natural zones of the USSR (Barysheva et al., 1992). The southern border of the area, within the limits of Central Asia and Kazakhstan, is drawn along an isoline of annual precipitation of 250 mm according to the results of studying hydrophily of grain noctuids (Shek, 1982); (Azhbenov, 1995) and a precipitation map (Kuznetsov & Sharova, 1972). The Sakhalin is included in the area according to data of Kuznetsova (1960). The outlined area of distribution of the species is supported by literature (Kozhanchikov, 1949); (Grigor'eva, 1958); (Belyaev, 1974); (Klyuchko, 1974); (Pavlov, 1983); (Shek, 1976, 1982); (Pospelov, 1975, 1989). The zone of low damage in the European part according to the following sources: (Grigor'eva, 1958); (Grivanov, 1958); (Belyaev, 1974); (Pospelov, 1975, 1989); (Pavlov, 1983); (Sukhareva, 1999). The border of this zone within the limits of the Ural-Siberian area, from Kuibyshev to Novosibirsk is drawn after Shek (1982).
