Basic contents:

Vector map. Area of species distribution is shown by polygons. Zones of recorded mass outbreak are shown by polygons.

Accuracy of classifier:

The area is presented within the area of commercial cultivation of fruits in the territory of the former USSR. Within the limits of the general area only a zone of low damage was determined. Here the pest has economic significance with the following economic thresholds: 3-5 egg-batches per tree before buds blossom; 0.5-3 caterpillars per running meter of branch or 10-15% damaged leaves before blossoming of fruits and berries (Dolzhenko, 2004). A. rosana is sometimes able to considerably exceed this threshold on some fruit and berry cultures, based on the work of Savzdarg (1954), Markelova (1957), Kolmakova (1962) and Kostyuk (1980), but the pest is mainly counted together with all early spring orchard pests. Treatments against bud pests and Codling Moth also reduce the Rose Tortrix population density.

Method of map production:

Scientists were given maps with boundaries of Oblasts and arable lands. After reviewing historic literature, species distribution was hand drawn on maps. Hand drawn maps were scanned, geo-referenced and vectorized. Known localities for the Rose Tortrix are located south of latitudes 66 degrees in Karelia and 64 degrees in Komi Republic; therefore, the northern border of the area is drawn along the smoothed line of .Kuusamo - Petrozavodsk - Arkhangel.sk - Vel.gort - Ukhta - Middle Ural. according to the following reference data on the species distribution: Sedykh (1974), Kostyuk (1974, 1980), Polyakov et al. (1984), Kutenkova (1986), Ermolaev (1988), Kuznetsov (1994, 2001). In Middle Asia the species is reported from the areas of commercial cultivation of fruit crops within foothills and oases according to the following sources: D.yakonov & Kozhanchikov (1949), Danilevskii (1962), Matesova & Mityaev (1962), Porsaev (1966), Krasil.nikov (1967), being absent in Pamir higher than 1100 m above sea level (Miralibekov, 1986). East of Ural the pest is locally distributed in southern Siberia (Altai Territory, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Kemerovo, Irkutsk Regions, South of Krasnoyarsk Territory, Buryatia) according to Kolmakova (1962), Kostyuk (1980), Babenko (1982) and Prokof.ev (1987). The species is adventive in the Far East, known in the main areas of industrial cultivation of fruit crops in the South of Amur and Sakhalin Region, Khabarovsk and Primorskii Territories according to Ermolaev (1988) and Kuznetsov (2001). The zone of low damage coincides with areas of industrial cultivation of fruit crops according to the following sources: Vasil.ev (1955), Kostyuk (1974), Polyakov et al. (1984), Vasil.ev & Livshits (1984), Kuznetsov (1994), Tochenov (1984).
