Date of creation:

15.03.2007.

Scale:

1:20 000 000.

Accuracy of the map:

It is created on materials of the map with scale 1:33 000 000, on the basis of information taken from literature and by the analysis of the collections of the Zoological Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences.

Projection:

.Alber.s Equal Conica for the USSR., 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0.

Basic content:

Vector map, which consists of 2 thematic layers. Area of distribution and zone of damage are shown by polygons.

Accuracy of the classifier:

Within the area of distribution, the zone of low damage is established according to the extent of damage to cruciferous vegetables and rape (Polyakov et al., 1981). Threshold of harmfulness of the C. obstrictus on the rape is 4 adults per 25 plants (Polyakov et al., 1983).

Method of map production:

Data from the open publications are used for allocation of area and zone of pest damage. Map of the area is also based on the analysis of the collection of the Zoological Institute RAS. The localities of the species are marked in coordinate system on blank geographical map by standard means of GIS-technologies. In the former USSR, the area includes Baltic States (Silfverberg, 1992), most of the European part of Russia northward to Leningrad Region and Karelia (Korotyaev, 1982; Arzanov, 1989; Silfverberg, 1992; Ismailova, 1993; Prasolov, 2005), Belarus and Ukraine (Ioannisiani, 1972; Petrukha & Globova, 1974), Moldova (Poiras, 1998), presumably Transcaucasia (Korotyaev & Cholokava, 1989) and NW Kazakhstan (Baitenov, 1974). Ural Mountains are the eastern border of the area of C. obstrictus. The zone of low damage comprises territory of the cruciferous vegetables and rape growing, northward of the forest-steppe zone (Ioannisiani, 1972; Polyakov et. al., 1981). Southward of the zone of C. obstrictus low damage, Ceutorhynchus gallorhenanus and C. fallax are the main pests of cruciferous vegetables cultures.
