Scale:

1:20 000 000.

Accuracy of map:

Map was created based on materials of maps of natural scales: 1: 12 000 000 and 1: 48 000 000 as well as published literature and other sources.

Projection:

"Alber's Equal Area Conic for the USSR", 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0.

Basic contents:

Vector map. Area of species distribution is shown by polygons. Zones of recorded mass outbreak are shown by polygons.

Accuracy of classifier:

The geographic area within the range of natural habitat is divided into 3 zones of damage (high, moderate, low damage) based on the following criteria accepted in system of plant protection: 1) the zone of high damage is characterized by settlement of agricultural lands with an average density of 10-15 inhabited holes on 1 ha, in some places up to 300; 2) the zone of moderate damage is characterized by settlement of agricultural lands with an average density of 3-5 inhabited holes on 1 ha, in some places (center or heightened population) up to 50; 3)the zone of low damage is characterized by settlement of agricultural lands with an average density of 10-15 holes on 1 ha.

Method of map production:

Two original published maps were used. Area of the Spotted Souslik is based on Flint et al. (1970) with precise adjustments made according to Titova & Ermakova (2003). Borders of the zones of harm were determined according to a map published by the All-Russia Institute of Plant Protection (1975), taking into account changes over the last twenty years (Titov (2001), Lobkov (1999)).
