Accuracy of the map:

It is created on materials of the map with scale 1:33 000 000, on the basis of information taken from literature and by the analysis of the collections of the Zoological Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences.

Projection:

Basic content:

Vector map which consists of 2 thematic layers. Area of distribution and zone of damage are shown by polygons.

Accuracy of the classifier:

Within the area of distribution, the zone of low damage is established, according to the extent of damage to rape and mustard. The damage is sporadic and insignificant.

Method of map production:

Data from the open publications are used for allocation of areas and zones of pest damage. In the former USSR, the area of P. hoefti is situated eastward of Dnepr River valley (Medvedev & Shapiro, 1965; Lopatin et al., 1974), approximately southward of Ryazan latitude in the European part (Bienkowski, 2004), Caucasus (Sakharov, 1934; Samedov, 1963; Mirzoeva, 2001), South of Western Siberia (Gussakovskii, 1949; Dubeshko & Medvedev, 1989), Middle Asia (Sakharov, 1934; Lopatin, 1977; Dubeshko & Medvedev, 1989; Warchalowski, 2003), Kazakhstan (Lopatin, 1977; Lopatin & Kulenova, 1986; Dubeshko & Medvedev, 1989; Warchalowski, 2003). The zone of low damage comprises the area of mustard growing in steppe zone of the South and South-East of the European part of Russia and the Caucasus (Dobrovol'skii, 1951; Grivanov & Zakharov, 1958; Lopatin et al., 1974).
