Date of creation:

10.10.2005.

Scale:

1:20,000,000.

Accuracy of map:

Map was created using a map of scale 1:33,000,000 and information taken from published literature.

Projection:

"Alber's Equal Area Conic for the USSR", 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0.

Basic content:

Vector map, which consists of 2 thematic layers. Area of distribution and zone of damage are shown by polygons.

Accuracy of classifier:

Within the area of distribution, there was only one zone established, in which damage to grain crops was ever recorded.

Mapping procedure:

Area of distribution and damage by the species in the former USSR were determined using published literature, especially V.N. Shchegolev, et al. (1934), L. Lashuk, I. Mareev (1966), I.M. Belyaev (1974), V.M. Pospelova (1974), E.P. Narchuk & V.A. Tryapitsyn (1984), V.M. Ermolenko (1984), V.G. Nikitenko, T.S. Zakharchenko (1997), and Z.A. Fedotova (1999). In the former USSR, the species occupies the European region (except for the north), the Caucasus and Siberia. Zone of damage includes Ukraine, accumbent regions of the Russian Federation, and the Boreal Caucasus (the Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories). Zones of damage were also established using published literature, including V.N. Shchegolev et al. (1934), L. Lashuk, I. Mareev (1966), I.M. Belyaev (1974), V.M. Pospelova (1974), E.P. Narchuk & V.A. Tryapitsyn (1984), V.M.Ermolenko (1984), and Anonym (1997). Distribution range was specified according to the vector map of areas containing the greatest distribution of grain wheat and rye.
