Date of creation:

Scale:

1:20 000 000.

Accuracy of the map:

It is created on materials of the map with scale 1:33 000 000, on the basis of information taken from literature.

Projection:

.Alber.s Equal Conica for the USSR., 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0.

Basic content:

Vector map, which consists of 3 thematic layers. Area of distribution and 2 zones of damage are shown by polygons.

Accuracy of the classifier:

Within the area of distribution, the zones of low and moderate damage are established according to the extent of damage to vineyard after the following publications: Matesova et al., 1962; Strunkova, 1966a, 1966b; Livshits, 1967; Lesteva, 1977; Bolshakova, 1989. Kopaneva et al. (1984) have estimated the harmfulness of E. pruni is not more than 3 points under the 5-points of harmfulness scale in the zone of low damage, and 5 points in the zone of moderate damage. Threshold of harmfulness on the vine crops is 15-20 mites per 1 leaf (Petrushov & Belyaeva, 1987).

Method of map production:

Data from the open publications are used for allocation of area and zone of the pest damage. In the former USSR, the area includes the European part northward to Moscow and Leningrad Regions (Strunkova, 1966a; Mitrofanov, Strunkova & Livshits, 1987), the Caucasus (Bagdasaryan, 1957; Rekk, 1976), southern part of the Far East (Beglyarov & Mitrofanov, 1970; Mitrofanov & Dyagileva, 1981), Tadjikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan northward to Karaganda Region (Matesova et al., 1962; Strunkova, 1966a; Vainshtein, 1970; Lesteva, 1977; Mitrofanov et al., 1987). The zone of low damage comprises the vine growing area within the area of E. pruni in Middle Asia and southern Kazakhstan; the zone of moderate damage comprises the vine growing area in steppe zone of the European part of the USSR and in Transcaucasia (Matesova et al., 1962; Strunkova, 1966a, 1966b; Livshits, 1967; Lesteva, 1977; Kopaneva et al., 1984; Bolshakova, 1989).
