Scale:

1:20 000 000.

Accuracy of the map:

It is created on materials of the map with scale 1:33 000 000, on the basis of information taken from literature.

Projection:

.Alber.s Equal Conica for the USSR., 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0.

Basic content:

Vector map, which consists of three thematic layers. Area of distribution and zones of damage are shown by polygons.

Accuracy of the classifier:

Threshold of harmfulness of Pearleaf Blister Mite in the phase of adult averages 3 mites per leaf. Zones of high (above the threshold) and low (below threshold) damage are distinguished within the pest area on the basis of expert estimations of injury of pear orchards. Zone of high damage typically corresponds the zone of industrial pear cultivation.

Method of map production:

Data from the publications are used for allocation of area and zones of pest damage. A map of the area is based on publications of Shvanderov (1979), Minder (1957), Bagdasaryan (1981), Sokolov (1960), Man.ko (1958), Busuiok (1988). The species is found almost everywhere throughout the European part of the Former USSR territory (Baltic States, Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus), Caucasus (Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia), Kazakhstan, Middle Asia and Altai Territory. Zone of high damage includes territory of pear cultivation approximately southward of Belarus to Azerbaijan and eastward of Ukraine to Kirov Region. Boundaries of the zones of damage are given according to the following works: Bagdasaryan (1981), Busuiok (1988), Minder (1957), Prokof.ev (1987), Cherkezova (2001). The pest damage zones are corrected according to vector layer within the regions of the most prominent pear distribution (Terekhina, N.V. & and Kalibernova, N.M.).
