Basic contents:

Vector map. Area of species distribution is shown by polygons. Zones of pest damage are shown by polygons.

Accuracy of classifier:

Within the polygon area zones of high, moderate, and low pest damage are demonstrated. In zone of high pest damage favorable conditions for development of E. integriceps occur 3 to 6 times per decade (Doronina & Makarova, 1976) and its number exceeds economic threshold: grain losses reach 5-30% due to the pest settlement of more than 60% of plants (Alekhin, 2002). In the zone of moderate pest damage its number is characterized by rises and recessions, the grain losses are 0.5-4% (30-60% of plants are occupied). In the zone of low pest damage the grain losses are 0.2-0.4%, with 20% of plants occupied (Alekhin, 2002).

Method of map production:

Scientists were given maps with boundaries of Oblasts and arable lands. After reviewing historic literature, species distribution was hand drawn on maps. If data were on the Oblast-level, distribution is on the Oblast level. In some cases, Oblast.s are further refined by boundaries of the Arable Land Map (Koroljeva et al., 2003). Hand drawn maps were scanned, georeferenced and vectorized. A map by Vinogradova was used as a base for map area (Polyakov, 1975) and the zones of pest damage represent data gathered from this source. The area of species distribution was drawn and adjusted according to the following sources: Viktorov (1967), Puchkov (1972), Polyakov (1975). Regional adjustments were made according to the following sources: In the European part (Polyakov, 1975); In the Asian part and the area in Syr Darya river valley northward to Qyzylorda, in lower Amu Darya river valley, and in southern Turkmenia (Viktorov, 1967); In Northern Kazakhstan (Puchkov, 1972; Viktorov, 1967).
