Date of creation:

Scale:

1:20 000 000.

Accuracy of the map:

It is based on materials of the map with scale 1:33 000 000, using the information taken from literature.

Projection:

"Alber's Equal Conica for the USSR", 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0.

Basic content:

Vector map, which consists of two thematic layers. Area of distribution and zone of damage are shown by polygons.

Accuracy of the classifier:

Within the limits of distribution, the zone of low damage has been allocated where insect density reaches 1-2 or more individuals per sq.m in favorable conditions (plow land of seacoasts and lakeshores, alkali soils).

Method for map production:

A map of the Single-spiked Mole Cricket distribution is drawn on the basis of published data (Gerasimov & Osnitskaya, 1961; Shchegolev, 1964; Mishchenko, 1972; Ergashev, 1976; Zhantiev, 1991; Fedorova et al., 1991; Zhantiev et al., 2003) being corrected according to distribution of alkali soils as the most favorable habitats of G. unispina (Baranov, 1969). The northern border of area runs from Moldova to China through Rostov, Volgograd, Orenburg, Chelyabinsk, Novosibirsk Regions, Altai Territory and Kazakhstan (Zhantiev, 1991). In the West, East, and South the map is limited by frontiers of the former USSR. Deserts and mountain territories within the limits of aforementioned territories are not included in the Mole Cricket area. Zone of low damage coincides with arable land distribution (Koroleva et al., 2003) in the area of G. unispina.
