Scale:

1:20 000 000.

Accuracy of the map:

It is created on materials of the map with scale 1:33 000 000 on the basis of information taken from literature.

Projection:

.Alber.s Equal Conica for the USSR., 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0.

Basic content:

Vector map, which consists of 2 thematic layers. Area of distribution and zone of damage are shown by polygons.

Accuracy of the classifier:

Within the area of distribution, zone of low damage is only established according to the extent of the pest damage to crops. The damage is sporadic (Petrusenko & Petrusenko, 1973; Kryzhanovskii, 1980).

Method of map production:

Data from the open publications are used for the allocation of area and zone of pest damage. In the former USSR, it inhabits all the European part (excluding the northernmost), the Caucasus, southern half of West Siberia and the south of East Siberia, Kazakhstan, Middle Asia (Kryzhanovskii, 1965, 1983; Kryzhanovskii et al., 1995; Kataev et al., 2003). It is absent in alpine zone and in sandy deserts (Kryzhanovskii, 1980). The zone of low damage includes territory of grain crops growing in southern part of steppe zone and in arid territories of Transcaucasia, Middle Asia, Kazakhstan (Petrusenko & Petrusenko, 1973). The zone is corrected according to the vector map of Koroleva et al. (2003) characterizing the largest regions of arable lands.
