Accuracy of the map:

Map was created based on materials of the map with scale 1:33 000 000, on the basis of information taken from literature.

Projection:

Basic contents:

Vector map. Area of species distribution is shown by polygons. Zones of recorded mass outbreak are shown by polygons.

Accuracy of classifier:

Within the area of distribution the only a zone of low damage was established according to the extent of damage to fruit crops. The threshold of harmfulness of Hoplocampa minuta on fruiters is 3-4 eggs per 100 flowers-fruitlets. In zone of low damage the population density of H. minuta only sometimes exceeds the threshold of harmfulness (Kopaneva et al., 1984).

Method of map production:

Scientists were given maps with boundaries of Oblasts and arable lands. After reviewing historic literature, species distribution was hand drawn on maps. If data were on the Oblast-level, distribution is on the Oblast level. In some cases, Oblast.s are further refined by boundaries of the Arable Land Map (Koroljeva et al., 2003). Hand drawn maps were scanned, georeferenced and vectorized. The map of the area was based on the following publications: Popov (1949), Batiashvili (1959), Mirzoyan (1970), Vasil'ev (1973), Zhelokhovtsev (1988). In the former USSR its area includes the European part north to the Baltic states, eastward scarcely to the Ural and Caucasus. It is known from Uzbekistan also. The borders of the damage zone were determined according to the following sources: Gusev et al. (1962), Mirzoyan (1970), Vasil'ev (1973), Tryapitsyn & Zhelokhovtsev (1981), Kopaneva et al. (1984). In the former USSR the zone of low damage is comprised of the territory of plum and cherry plum growing within the area of Hoplocampa minuta, also corrected according to the areas of industrial cultivation of fruit crops (Tochenov et al., 1984).
