Date of creation:

26.03.2007.

Scale:

1:20 000 000.

Accuracy of the map:

It is based on materials of the map with scale 1:33 000 000, using the information taken from literature.

Projection:

"Alber's Equal Conica for the USSR", 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0.

Basic content:

Vector map, which consists of three thematic layers. Area of distribution and zones of damage are shown by polygons.

Accuracy of the classifier:

Threshold of harmfulness of the Smaller Rice Leaf Miner in the maggot stage is 0.5 specimen per one cereal plant in the sprout stage (Tanskii, 1985). The zones of low (0.5 to 10 maggots per plant; less than 14% damaged plants) and high (over 10 maggots; on average 45 eggs, sometimes up to 200 eggs per plant; 14-90% damaged plants) damage are distinguished within the pest area due to the expert appraisal of the data of past years.

Method for map production:

To distinguish the species general distribution and damage zones, the analysis was done based upon the following publications: Kas'yanov (1967, 1971), Klimanova (1971, 1976), Krivosheina (2001), Narchuk (1970), Kazanok (1984), Kotlyarova (1987). The species is ubiquitous on the territory of Former Soviet Union. The northern area boundary is corrected according to the map of timothy (Phleum pratense L., P. montanum C. Koch, P. phleoides (L.) Karst, P. pratense L., P. nodosum L.) area by N.I. Dzyubenko & E.A. Dzyubenko (2004, 2005), L.L. Malyshev & N.Yu. Malysheva (2004), as the timothy is one of the major forage plants. The high mountains are excluded from the area. Zone of high damage in Russia covers rice-growing regions: Kuban (Kas'yanov 1967) and Primorskii Territory (Loginova, 1963; Klimanova, 1971, 1976). Zone of low damage includes the whole territory of cereal crops with the exception of high damage zone. The pest damage zones are corrected according to the map of maize, barley and rice distribution (Koroleva et al., 2003).
