Date of creation:

20.02.2007.

Scale:

1:20 000 000.

Accuracy of the map:

It is created on materials of the map with scale 1:40 000 000 on the basis of information taken from literature and by the analysis of the collections of the Zoological Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences.

Projection:

.Alber.s Equal Conica for the USSR., 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0.

Basic content:

Vector map, which consists of 2 thematic layers. Area of distribution and zone of damage are shown by polygons.

Accuracy of the classifier:

Within area of distribution, the zone of low damage only is established according to the extent of damaging clover. Threshold of harmfulness of the P. trifolii on the Trifolium pratense is 15-25 adults per 1 sq. m (Mormyleva & Tralenko, 1991).

Method of map production:

Data from the open publications are used for allocation of area and zone of pest damage. Map of the area is based also on the analysis of the collection of the Zoological Institute RAS. The localities of the species are marked in coordinate system on blank geographical map by standard means of GIS-technologies. In the former USSR, the area of the Protapion trifolii includes Baltic States (Silfverberg, 1992), most of the European part of Russia northward to Leningrad, Kirov Regions and Karelia (Vasil'ev, 1936; Rakhmanova, 1969; Shernin, 1974; Korotyaev, 1983; Isaev, 1994; Prasolov, 2005), Belarus (Ioannisiani, 1972), Ukraine (Solodovnikova, 1970), Moldova (Poiras, 1998), the Caucasus (Arzanov, 1989; Ismailova, 1993), presumably the South of West Siberia eastward to Baikal and the West of Kazakhstan (Baitenov, 1974). The zone of low damage comprises territory of the clover-growing, northward of the forest-steppe zone (Vasil'ev, 1936, 1940; Shchegolev, 1955; Polyakov et. al., 1983).
