Date of creation:

Scale:

1:20 000 000.

Accuracy of the map:

It is created on materials of the map with scale 1:33 000 000 on the basis of information taken from literature.

Projection:

.Alber.s Equal Conica for the USSR., 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0.

Basic content:

Vector map, which consists of 2 thematic layers. Area of distribution and zone of damage are shown by polygons.

Accuracy of the classifier:

Within the area of distribution, the zone of low damage is established according to the extent of damage to fruiters. In the zone of low damage, harmfulness of S. mali is not more than 2 points under the 5-points scale of harmfulness (Polyakov et al., 1984); the damage is sporadic and insignificant.

Method of map production:

Data from the open publications are used for allocation of area and zone of pest damage. In the former USSR, the area includes the European part (Panshin, 1952; Vasil'ev & Lifshits, 1958; Krivolutskaya, 1965; Rudnev, Vasechko, 1974) northward to Baltic States (Silfverberg, 1992) and Leningrad Region (Mandelshtam, 2001; Voolma et al., 2004), whole Caucasus (Stark, 1952; Samedov, 1963; Petrov, 2005), Southern Siberia eastward to Transbaikalia (Kostin, 1973; Prokof.ev, 1987; Krivolutskaya, 1996), Middle Asia (Plotnikov, 1926; Gussakovskii, 1949), and probably Kazakhstan (Kostin, 1973). The zone of low damage comprises the territory of fruit growing in steppe zone of the European part, in Caucasus and Middle Asia (Plotnikov, 1926; Gussakovskii, 1949; Kryzhanovskii, 1974; Polyakov et al., 1984).
