Scale:

1:20 000 000.

Accuracy of the map:

The map is based on herbarium materials and on data of a 1:40 000 000 scale map.

Projection:

"Albers Equal-Area Conic Projection for USSR", 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0

Basic contents:

The map is a vector file consisting of 1 basic and 2 subject layers. The species range is represented by a polygon and dots.

Accuracy of the qualifier:

The dots represent information on the species localities: 1 - reliable data according to herbarium; the polygon (1) - generalized information on the species distribution from published sources and herbarium specimens.

Method of the map construction:

The data from the herbarium materials of LE, a published map of the range part (Musaev, 1965), and published data (Iljin, 1936; Kurochkina et al., 1986) were used for constructing the range of Camphorosma monspeliaca. The range consists of one main polygon and dots. The species is confined to steppe zones of the European part of Russia and southeastern Ukraine, West Siberia and Central Asia. Also occurs in montane steppes of the Caucasus, in desert zone - in the Syr-Darya River valley. The northern limits of the species range reach 55 degree of the northern latitude. The range of a closely related species Camphorosma lessingi Litw. coincides in a significant part with that of Montpellierian camphor-fume; Lessing.s camphor-fume, however, occurs in more southern montane steppes of Central Asia as well.
