Scale:

1:20 000 000.

Accuracy of the map:

The map is based on data of a 1:10 000 000 scale map, specified according to herbarium materials.

Projection:

"Albers Equal-Area Conic Projection for USSR", 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0

Basic contents:

The map is a vector file consisting of 1 basic and 2 subject layers. The species range is represented by polygons and dots.

Accuracy of the qualifier:

The dots represent information on the species localities from data of LE herbarium (1) and published sources (2), the polygons - generalized information on the species distribution from published sources.

Method of the map construction:

The range of Halimodendron halodendron is based on the data of herbarium materials of LE, with account of a published map of the range part (Grossheim, 1952). The resulted range consists of 3 polygons and dots. The main polygon covers Central Asian mountains and Kazakhstan (except for desert zone, where the species occurs only in depressions). The second polygon of abundant occurrence of the species is confined within Uzbekistan (Karakalpakstan: flood-plain of the Amu Darya,). The third polygon falls within the European area and is outlined in the lower course of the Volga. Specific localities of the species are recorded in the Caucasus (Nakhichevan, Western and Eastern Transcaucasia), on Mangyshlak, in montane Turkmenistan (Kopet-Dagh), Pamir, West Siberia. In the southern European part, the plant was brought in culture and has escaped wild in some places (salted sands of the Azov Sea coast).
