Taxonomical position.

Family Poaceae Benth, Genus Poa L.

Morphology and biology.

Long-term cereal. Plant forms dense tussocks. Stalks rigid, bare, sharply rough, 50-90 cm tall. Leaves short, rigid, most often grouped lengthwise, 1-2 mm in width; ligulas 1.5-2 mm in length. Panicles lengthened and pyramidal with sharply rough branchlets directed upwards. Spikelets reach 5-6 mm in length. The bottom floral scales across the keel and veins are tomentous. Blossoms in June-July. Anemophilous. 2n=42.

Distribution.

Endemic to Pribaikalye.

Ecology.

Occurs on stony slopes.

Use and economic value.

Fodder plant.
