Accuracy of the map:

The map is based on data of 1:20 000 000, 1:25 000 000 scale maps, corrected according to herbarium materials.

Projection:

Basic contents:

The map is a vector file consisting of a polygon and dots. Localities of the species are represented by dots, the area of possible species distribution is represented by the polygon.

Accuracy of the qualifier:

Dark dots represent information on the species localities from herbarium collections of MW, the rest (light) dots represent data from published sources.

Method of the map construction:

Rumex aquaticus is distributed on a large part of the former USSR area. Our treatment of the species range mainly follows the view of Hulten, Fries (1986) on the species distribution. The range is represented by two polygons, the Eurasian one, which embraces all species localities in both European and Asian parts of the USSR including Far East, and Central Asian one, which covers scant data on the species distribution in Central Asia. Herbarium materials of MW, published data and published maps of the species range (Hulten, Fries, 1986; Kharkevich, 1989) were used as a material for the range construction. Dots beyond the polygon outlines represent adventive localities of the species.
