Perennial cereal. The plant forms friable tussocks. Stalks strong, 80-120 cm of height. Leaves wide, flat, 10-12 mm of width. Spike large, 10-12 (up to 20) cm of length. Spikelet 3,5-4,5 mm of length. Spikelet scales narrow linear, rough. The bottom floral scales lanceolate, with straight awn, equal to it in length, 14-15 mm of length. Blossoms in June - August. Anemophilous. 2n=14.Distribution.
