Scale:

1:20 000 000.

Accuracy of the map:

The map is based on data of 1:13 000 000, 1:80 000 000 scale maps, specified according to herbarium materials.

Projection:

Basic contents:

The map is a vector file consisting of 1 basic and 2 subject layers. The species range is represented by polygons and dots.

Accuracy of the qualifier:

The dots represent information on the species localities: 1 - reliable data from herbarium and published sources; polygons (1) - generalized information on the species distribution from published sources and herbarium specimens.

Method of the map construction:

The data from the herbarium materials of LE, published maps of the species range (Hulten, Fries, 1986) and of a part of the range (Grossheim, 1952), and published data were used for constructing the range of Trifolium alpestre.
Our view on the species distribution in Russia and adjacent states generally agrees with the idea on its distribution by Hulten and Fries (1986). We somewhat extended the polygon borders toward Baltic states based on herbarium and published data (Bobrov, 1945, 1987). The range consists of two polygons and dots. The larger polygon covers a significant part of the European former USSR (Baltic states, all the west, Crimea, central, east). The smaller polygon is situated in the Caucasus. Separate species localities are recorded in the Ural Mountains.
