Morphology and biology.

Annual herbaceous plant. Stems 10-40 cm tall, straight, densely pubescent with square hairs. Leaflets broadly obovate, with a broad emargination at apex. Inflorescences globose heads, wrapped at base with broadened stipules. Corolla pink-purple. Fruit a scarious 1-seeded pod. Flowers in May, fruits in June. Autogamous plant. 2n=10.

Distribution.

Crimea (southern), Caucasus (Transcaucasia, Talysh).

Ecology.

On dry stony and detritus slopes of foothills, in light forests.

Economic value.

May be used as forage plant for arid conditions.
