Authors:

Object specialist - T. D. Sokolova, GIS-specialist-I.A.Budrevskaja.

Date of creation:

28.11.2003.

Scale:

1:20 000 000.

Accuracy of the map:

Created using maps of natural scale 1:80 000 000 and larger.

Projection:

"Alber's Equal Area Conic" USSR, 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0.

Basic contents:

Vector map. Area is shown by polygons (basic distribution) and by points (sporadic distribution). Zone of harmfulness is shown by polygons.

Accuracy of the classifier:

Areas of basic distribution, sporadic distribution and harmfulness were established according to the analysis of the open-published maps and literature. The area of Amaranthus retroflexus is based on the map from Volkov A.N. (1935). The area of distribution on the Caucasus, in Krasnodar and Stavropol regions is established according to the following sources: (Grossheim, 1962); (Galushko, 1978); (Niconov, 1975). Limits of the zone of harmfulness are established according to the following sources: (Nikitin, 1983); (Barbarich et al., 1970); (Ten, 1988) and adjusted with the limits of the arable lands map. Sporadic distribution is shown according to: (Hulten & Fries, 1986); (Vasilchenko, 1953).

Method of map production:

Published literature was reviewed, including Atlases, monographs and papers. Occurrence data were obtained from herbarium specimens, floras, monographs and papers. Data were then compiled through scanning and geo-referencing to develop a composite vector map. The biologist, together with the GIS specialist, drew a composite weed distribution area based on compiled data.
