Authors:

Object specialist - N.N. Luneva,
GIS-specialist - I.A. Budrevskaya.

Data of creation:

22.10.2003.

Scale:

1:20 000 000.

Accuracy of map:

Created using maps of natural scale 1:10 000 000-1:80 000 000 and on literature data.

Projection:

"Alber's Equal Area Conic on the USSR", 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0.

Basic contents:

Vector map. Area of distribution is shown by polygons (basic distribution) and by points (sporadic distribution). Zones of weed severity are shown by polygons.

Accuracy of classifier:

The area is divided into areas of basic distribution, sporadic distribution, and zones of weed severity. Zones of distribution and weed severity were established according to the analysis of open-published maps and literature. Initial maps used were Hulten & Fries (1986) and Volkov (1935). Northern limit is established by Hulten & Fries M (1986), eastern and southern by Volkov (1935). In Caucasus the area is established by Volkov (1935) as well by what is verified by Hulten & Fries (1986) and Grossgeim (1949). The area of sporadic distribution is established according to the above-mentioned sources and those given below.

Method of map production:

Published literature was reviewed, including Atlases, monographs and papers. Occurrence data were obtained from herbarium specimens, floras, monographs and papers. Data were then compiled through scanning and geo-referencing to develop a composite vector map. The biologist together with the GIS specialist, drew a composite weed distribution area based on compiled data.
