Vector map. The main distribution area is shown by a polygon, while sporadic distribution is shown by points. Zone of weediness is shown by a polygon.

Distribution of the species is divided into zones of main distribution, sporadic distribution, and weediness.

Mapping procedure:

Distribution area and zones of weediness were mapped following an analysis of public cartographical materials and published sources. In order to construct the borders of the weed distribution area, published materials related its distribution in regions, districts, and towns were used (Veselovs.kii et al., 1988; Grin.ko et al., 1987; Nikitin, 1983; Rakhimov et al., 1973; Ul.yanova, 1998; Tsvelev, 1994; Chepelev, 1977); the data were marked on the map of administrative regions of the former USSR using the MapInfo program. The neighboring regions and districts form the main distribution area; the remote ones are shown as areas of sporadic distribution. The distribution area in the Far East was corrected using Kharkevich (1992); the distribution area was further refined using the map of arable lands and published data (Korovina, 1983; Chepelev R.D., 1977). The zone of weediness was coordinated with the map of summer wheat, where the weed was reported; it was also identified in Bashkortostan as a persistent weed (Rakhimov et al., 1973), in the Rostov-on-Don Region as the most widespread weed (Grin.ko et al., 1987), and in the Aktyubinsk (Aktobe) Region as having high population density, i.e., 150 plants per square meter (Gusel.nikova, 1961) or 144-980 per square meter (Morozova, 1971).
