Object description Download GIS-layers

Authors:

Object specialist - T.D. Sokolova,
GIS-specialist - I.A.Budrevskaja.

Date of creation:

22.12.2003.

Scale:

1:20 000 000.

Accuracy of the map:

Created using maps of natural scale 1:5 000 000 - 1:80 000 000 and data from published literature.

Projection:

"Alber's Equal Area Conic for the USSR", 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0.

Basic contents:

Vector map. Area is shown by polygons (basic distribution) and by points (sporadic distribution). Zone of harmfulness is shown by polygons.

Accuracy of the classifier:

Within weed area the zones of basic and sporadic distribution are shown, as well as zone of high weed infestation, where Stellaria media is a pernicious weed. Limits of the zone of harmfulness are established according to: (Nikitin, 1983) and adjusted according to the Arable Land Map.

Method of map production:

Published literature was reviewed, including Atlases, monographs and papers. Occurrence data were obtained from herbarium specimens, floras, monographs and papers. Areas of basic distribution, sporadic distribution and harmfulness are established according to the analysis of the open-published maps and literature. The area of Stellaria media is determined according to: (Hulten & Fries, 1986). Limits of the zone of harmfulness are established according to: (Nikitin, 1983) and adjusted according to the Arable Land Map. Data were then compiled through scanning and geo-referencing to develop a composite vector map. The biologist together with the GIS specialist, drew a composite weed distribution area based on compiled data.
